Support writers by donating to the ACT Writers Centre

For nearly 25 years, the ACT Writers Centre has supported ACT and region writers to develop and build their careers.

The ACT Writers Centre receives valuable support from the ACT Government and our generous members, sponsors and partners. However, as a not-for-profit organisation, our ability to continue to provide the services and programs we do, grow our offerings into the future, and keep costs down for the writing community, depends on diverse funding.

That is why we are asking for your support.

We need to raise $25,000 this year to help us continue to improve our services. We are striving to raise these funds in various ways. But you can help us reach that goal by making a tax-deductible donation to the Centre. This can be a one off, or a monthly payment. Your generosity enables us to continue to grow and make our services even more accessible to the wider community.

Please consider making an affordable donation to the Centre. Even a $10 donation will help immensely.

You can either donate here or phone (02) 6262 9191 (Wednesday-Friday) to make a credit card payment or direct deposit. All donations over $2 are fully tax deductible. Online donations are secure and issued with an instant tax receipt.

How your donation will help ACT and region writers

In 2017, the Centre served more than 4100 writers through its programs and provided income streams for more than 140 writers. The Centre engaged across the community, including through support of Noted Writers Festival, the Belconnen Arts Centre Ignite program, Us Mob Writing’s Chosen program, and the Libraries ACT The Write Stuff program.

The Centre was also proud to engage ACT and region writers as part of the HARDCOPY national development program, including through a range of activities involving the best agents, publishers and authors in Australia.

We also introduced several new programs including the ACT Writer-in-Residence program in partnership with UNSW, the Between the Lines Reading for Writers program and the National Library of Australia Literary Bloggers of the Future program.

Now we need your support. You can be part of the ACT Writers Centre’s ongoing contribution to Canberra’s literary life through a donation to the Centre’s projects.
