For nearly 25 years, the ACT Writers Centre has supported ACT and region writers to develop and build their careers.
The ACT Writers Centre receives valuable support from the ACT Government and our generous members, sponsors and partners. However, as a not-for-profit organisation, our ability to continue to provide the services and programs we do, grow our offerings into the future, and keep costs down for the writing community, depends on diverse funding.
That is why we are asking for your support.
Our mission is to develop writers and their work, and we are the only organisation dedicated to supporting the ACT region’s writers, at all stages of development. You can help support our work by making a tax-deductible donation to the Centre. This can be a one off, or a monthly payment. Your generosity enables us to continue to grow and make our services even more accessible to the wider community.
Please consider making an affordable donation to the Centre. Even a $10 donation will help immensely.
You can either donate here or phone (02) 6262 9191 (Tuesday or Thursday-Friday) to make a credit card payment or direct deposit. All donations over $2 are fully tax deductible. Online donations are secure and issued with an instant tax receipt.
Last financial year, the Centre served more than 4400 writers through its programs and provided income streams for more than 125 writers. The Centre engaged across the community, including through our own writing and publishing awards; through support of Purple Ink, in partnership with Soldier On; and through the Libraries ACT The Write Stuff program.
The Centre was also proud to engage ACT and region writers as part of the HARDCOPY national development program, including through a range of activities involving the best agents, publishers and authors in Australia.
We also continued several valued programs, including the ACT Writer-in-Residence program in partnership with UNSW, the Between the Lines Reading for Writers program and the NEW TERRITORY: Adventures in Arts Writing program in partnership with The Street Theatre, The National Library of Australia and the Canberra Writers Festival.
To continue serving our community, we need your support. You can be part of the ACT Writers Centre’s ongoing contribution to Canberra’s literary life through a donation to the Centre’s projects.
