New Territory Press
New Territory Press is a design, layout and publishing liaison service offered by the ACT Writers Centre. It was developed in response to an increasing demand by Writers Centre members for assistance in self-publishing their work.
Since its inception, New Territory press, or NTP, has assisted in the production of fiction, memoirs, children's picture books, poetry collections, nonfiction and academic works. Services offered by NTP include:
- Design and layout
- Image manipulation
- Typesetting
- Cover design
- ISBN & CIP registration
- Printer liaison
- Preparing manuscripts for e-publishing
- Uploading ebooks to online sites and distributors
By working alongside the ACT Writers Centre's Invite-a-Writer service, we also provide access to experienced editors, proofreaders and illustrators. We are very selective in who we use, and always liaise thoroughly with clients before commissioning them.
Of course, not all projects require the same work. We can tailor our processes to serve each client's individual needs. Above all else we recognise that the project belongs to the client. We will offer our opinion when it is asked for, but will make sure creative control stays firmly in the client's hands.
New Territory Press is not a publisher, and as such, there are some services we cannot offer. We are essentially a production team – taking a project from manuscript to finished product. We cannot accept responsibility for researching or checking facts, or obtaining copyrights. We also can't take an active hand in distribution, but we will to provide some tips to help you out where possible.

To make an appointment to discuss your project, contact the office on 6262 9191 between 10am and 5pm, Tuesday-Friday. An initial 15 minute consultation to discuss your project will be free for all new clients, after which a standard rate of $40 will apply. Please note that NTP is an ACT Writers Centre member service. If you are not a member a $60 joining fee will apply before an appointment can be made.
