Workshops and events
The ACT Writers Centre runs a wide variety of creative and professional development workshops. We often launch new workshops as tutors become available, so be sure to visit this site regularly. You can also be alerted to new workshops as they become available by subscribing to our free weekly e-news. If you would like to subscribe, send an email to communications(at)actwriters.org.au with 'e-news subscribe' in the subject box and we will add you to our database.
All workshops are held in the workshop room of the ACT Writers Centre, Gorman House, Ainslie Avenue, Braddon, unless otherwise specified. Please bring your lunch for day long workshops or purchase it from the markets or nearby Canberra Centre. Tea/coffee and biscuits are provided.
Bookings
All workshops require payment at time of booking. Bookings can be made by phone on 6262 9191 (Tuesday-Saturday), online (below) or in person. The Writers Centre has credit card facilities but no EFTPOS. If paying by cheque, make payable to ACT Writers Centre. Enrolment will not be confirmed until payment is received.

Sometimes courses fill before we get a chance to remove the form from our website. In this event you would be refunded your full payment.)
Refunds
A refund of 75% will be given for workshop cancellations 2 weeks or more before the workshop. Alternatively, participants who cancel 2 weeks or more beforehand can also choose to transfer their credit to another workshop if a vacancy exists, or maintain it in workshop credits. No refund will be given for cancellations less than 2 weeks before the workshop if we cannot fill the space.
If there are insufficient enrolments the Centre reserves the right to cancel a workshop. Participants will be reimbursed in full.
Memberships
Some ACT Writers Centre workshops include a 12 month membership for people paying the non-member rate. Memberships activate upon the date of the workshop, and new members are required to fill in a membership form, which will be given to them in the workshop. If you do not fill in and return this form in a timely manner your membership will not be activated.
Memberships are only included when paying the non-member rate.
